摘要: Abstract The method of determining the orientation an adsorbed molecule by angle-resolved photoemission with polarised light has been applied to case water on clean copper (110). By using dipole selection rules and symmetry arguments, it is found that in full monolayer as well at submonolayer coverages, molecules are a tilted geometry. Only small shifts valence peak relative gas phase spectrum found, indicative weak chemisorption bond. These results explained, recourse LEED observations, terms recent models layers metal surfaces.
