摘要: Stress waves can be produced in solids by impact with another object, gas pressure of adjacent detonating explosive, or sudden deposition radiation. These are general very complicated, even for simple geometries, because the strong interaction that occurs between wave propagation behavior and material response when stresses exceed elastic limit. In this lecture we will limit our attention to plane longitudinal waves, non-linear general, emphasize relation thermomechanical behavior. Many interesting physical phenomena not included such a continuum approach. part elision is due lack space many microscopic as conductivity, magnetic effects, dislocation mechanics, etc., still exploration stage; papers symposium deal several those aspects shock physics. The behavior, however, only intrinsic interest but occupies central essential role study all related phenomena. To display interrelationship properties it customary begin well-developed theory high speed flow fluids. Our approach similar except delay somewhat introduction any assumptions concerning properties. way hope avoid some confusion about applicability results solids.
