摘要: Mucoid strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa are characterized by an overproduction the extracellular polysaccharide alginate. When suspended into chlorinated swimming-pool water or drinking samples, mucoid bacteria revealed enhanced survival compared with isogenic nonmucoid cells. Removal slime from abolished chlorine resistance, addition purified alginate to washed again survival. Thus, alginate-containing confers protection on P. against and may contribute these in systems.
