摘要: Using a nested circulation model based on the Princeton Ocean Model, we investigate characteristics and mechanisms of two main upwellings in southern Taiwan Strait: Southwest upwelling Bank upwelling. The exists summer when southwesterly monsoon dominates, occurs over longer period from May to September. upslope current distinctly widened shelf transports cold water on-shoreward at lower layer wind drives surface layer, forming upwelling, while tidal residual weakens advection. For upward transport South China Sea due topography carries subsurface depth approximately 25 m near Bank, then strong mixing forces this upwelled further layer.
