Caesarean section in four South East Asian countries: reasons for, rates, associated care practices and health outcomes

摘要: Caesarean section is a commonly performed operation on women that globally increasing in prevalence each year. There large variation the rates of caesarean, both high and low income countries, as well between different institutions within these countries. This audit aimed to report reasons for caesarean associated clinical care practices amongst nine hospitals four South East Asian countries participating Asia-Optimising Reproductive Child Health Developing (SEA-ORCHID) project. Data rates, health outcomes were collected from medical records 9550 their 9665 infants admitted across Asia January December 2005. Overall 27% had section, with varying 19% 35% 12% 39% The most common indications previous (7.0%), cephalopelvic disproportion (6.3%), malpresentation (4.7%) fetal distress (3.3%). Neonatal resuscitation ranged 7% 60% Prophylactic antibiotics almost universally given but variations timing occurred Rates varied widely
