摘要: Bipolar disorder is a psychiatric disease characterized by recurrent episodes of mania and depression. Blueberries contain bioactive compounds with important pharmacological effects such as neuroprotective antioxidant actions. The aim this study was to investigate the blueberry extract and/or lithium on oxidative stress, acetylcholinesterase (AChE) Na+, K+-ATPase activity in an experimental ketamine-induced model mania. Male Wistar rats were pretreated vehicle, (200 mg/kg), (45 mg/kg or 22.5 mg/kg twice daily) for 14 days. Between 8th 14th days, animals also received injection ketamine (25 mg/kg) vehicle. On 15th day single ketamine; after 30 min, locomotor evaluated open field test. Ketamine administration induced increase activity. In cerebral cortex, hippocampus striatum, reactive oxygen species, lipid peroxidation nitrite levels, well decrease enzyme Pretreatment able prevent change. increased AChE Na+, K+-ATPase brain structures, while partially prevented these alterations. addition, our results showed that effect not potentiated when treatment given together. conclusion, findings suggest has against However, more studies should be performed evaluate its adjuvant therapy.
