摘要: Background. Soft tissue sarcomas of the head and neck represent uncommon malignant neoplasms. With exception orbital parameningeal sites, treatment in has not been standardized. The authors used a prospectively collected database adult soft to identify prognostic factors for local control survival. Methods. A sarcoma from 1982 1989 was analyzed impact on survival. Factors examined included histologic type, tumor grade, size, resection margins. Results. overall disease free survival at 5 years 71 60%, respectively. Local 70% years. On univariate analysis, grade margin status were predictors control. Analysis based Cox proportional hazard model revealed that only significant factor predicting Grade indicators both analysis model. Conclusion. Patients with should undergo wide excision removal all gross acquisition negative, microscopic surgical margins. positive margins receive adjuvant radiotherapy High lesions place patients risk recurrence distant dissemination. Investigational regimens designed prevent metastatic be performed. Cancer 1994; 74: 697-702.
