Juvenile Movement among Different Populations of Cutthroat Trout Introduced as Embryos to Vacant Habitat

摘要: Abstract Translocations are frequently used to increase the abundance and range of endangered fishes. One factor likely affect outcome translocations is fish movement. We introduced embryos from five Westslope Cutthroat Trout Oncorhynchus clarkii lewisi populations (both hatchery wild) at different locations within a fishless watershed. then examined movement age-1 age-2 looked for differences in distance among source introduction sites; we also interactions age, population, site. At age 1, most individuals (90.9%) remained 1,000 m their sites. By 2, majority (58.3%) still site, but considerably more had moved downstream, some than 6,000 m observed significant interaction between population (F 4, 1077 = 15.45, P < 0.0001) as well ...
