摘要: Abstract In this study, the seismic performance of wide flange steel beams partly covered by side plates was investigated experimentally and analytically. The were laterally supported at top but not bottom flange. Multiple cases tested including with without plates, results showed that acceptable in terms strength, ductility, hysteresis behavior. lateral torsional buckling suppressed plates. A finite-element model established validated using test results. parametric study conducted, which revealed lengths played an important role determining beams. plate length required to achieve desired depended on strength used, beam slenderness ratio, section dimensions such as depth-to-width ratio width-to-thickness flanges web. design guideline for proposed based study. equation calculate provides a result is precise enough compared analytical slight conservatism.
