摘要: Characteristics of planting stock which reflect quality (defined here as performance potential) are categorized either “performance” attributes or “material” attributes. Performance attributes, such root-growth potential, cold hardiness, and stress resistance, assessed by subjecting whole seedlings to certain environmental regimes evaluating their response. Because integrators all many seedling subsystems, they often correlate well with potential; however, tend require laborious time-consuming procedures. Material dormancy status, water relations, nutrition, morphology, measuring the attribute in question any number direct indirect methods. Although material more easily rapidly measured than former generally yield little definitive information on unless values fall outside some established range. Of Northwest nurseries responding OSU Nursery Survey, reported using various methods assess conditions. However, most were used indicate desirability carrying out cultural operations, irrigation lifting, rather measure itself.
