摘要: The discrepancy between the muon $g-2$ measurement and Standard Model prediction points to new physics around or below weak scale. It is tantalizing consider loop effects of a heavy axion (in general sense, also known as an axion-like particle) coupling leptons photons explanation for this discrepancy. We provide updated analysis necessary couplings, including two-loop contributions, find that operators point decay constant on order 10s GeV. This poses major problems such explanation, couplings must be generated at low scales. outline some possibilities how can arise, these scenarios predict charged matter scale scalars mix with Higgs boson, raising numerous phenomenological challenges. These all additional contributions itself, calling initial application effective theory into question. conclude there little reason favor relative other models postulating weak-scale matter.
