Knowledge Gaps and Rural Development in Tajikistan: Agricultural Advisory Services as a Panacea?

摘要: Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to analyse knowledge systems and channels innovation diffusion in Tajikistan. In particular, I look at the formation agricultural advisory services (AASs) how these provide a vital source for farmers during transition process. Methodology: Empirically, draws on qualitative, ethnographic research sector Tajikistan, that is, semi-structured in-depth interviews with experts, 'farm diary' provided data farmers' perspectives regarding access expertise. Findings: Following dissolution Soviet Union civil war available can be described as mix traces fragments originating from educational system represented by universities, institutes academies science, one hand, Western-style knowledge, mainly introduced development agencies, other. Donors are relatively new actors field dissemination, but they nevertheless very important ones. Under 'development' framework, rhetorical, organisational infrastructural development, different donors play their own parts, some them geo-political. At same time support functioning local non-governmental organisations help maintain accordingly, also used Tajik political purposes. Practical implications: From discussion, practical suggestions made AASs could organised namely existing assets, traditions networks, thus reflecting interplay between main needs.
