摘要: This study assessed the oral health of institutionalized elderly in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. A sample 335 individuals over 60 years age was randomly selected. Data were collected through interviews, review medical records, and clinical examination by a single researcher. Oral evaluated terms hygiene, caries, periodontal disease. Bacterial plaque present on 76% dental surfaces, 57% using upper dentures presented at least one its surfaces. DMF-T index 30.8, with missing component representing 94.2%. Missing sextant worst finding 78.2% elderly. Among valid sextants, there higher prevalence 4 to 5mm pocket attachment loss from (47%). According findings, suffer precarious health, deficient high caries rate, tooth loss, pocket.
