Structural family therapy in chronic illness: Intervention can help produce a more adaptive family structure

摘要: Abstract A strong argument can be made that the family rather than individual patient is appropriate unit of treatment for repercussions chronic illness. Family structures assessed in light boundaries, hierarchy, alliances and coalitions, repetitive behavioral sequences organized around symptom, so as to enable therapist design interventions. Specific examples are presented illuminate this approach. At best, chronically ill freed considerable emotional suffering even when illness cannot cured.
