摘要: Drop tube processing was used to study rapid solidification of Ge–Al eutectic system. Liquid droplets with diameters in the range 100–900 μm were undercooled and containerlessly solidified an 8 m drop tube. The cooling rate which plays a dominant role structural morphology is estimated. smaller droplets, higher undercooling rates. reaction: L → α(Al) + β(Ge) verified. Droplets larger than 500 diameter exhibited complete coarse lamellar eutectics regular dendritic structures. With decreasing droplet size, anomalous transition took place. It also proved that, caused lower spacing affected mechanical characteristics materials like microhardness.
