摘要: Background : A high frequency of cigarette smoking has been reported among individuals with major depression. In a previous study, transdermal nicotine produced short-term improvement in the mood depressed patients. This study was undertaken to determine effects 4 days' administration on nonsmoking patients Method The patches (17.5 mg) 12 nonmedicated outpatients depression (DSM-III-R) were studied for continuous days. Patients had score 18 points or more Hamilton Rating Scale Depression (HAM-D) (21 items) admission into study. HAM-D (10 items), visual analog scale, and side scale scored daily during trial (baseline, days patches, follow-up). Results Two dropped out owing nausea vomiting. showed significant (p <.01) after second day patches. relapsed 3 last dose. observed an increase saliva production, nausea, loss appetite, mild insomnia. Conclusion Nicotine minor effects. Because nicotine's risk health, are not recommended clinical use Analogue drugs may be developed future that help improve without other health problems.
