摘要: An updated list of numbers phytophagous insects and mites associated with 28 British tree species or genera is presented, together revised estimates the abundance trees. Difficulties in assessing species-area relationships for on trees are discussed a new relationship calculated. When number variables: Log abundance, time present Britain, whether not were evergreen coniferous, taxonomic relatedness, height leaf length included stepwise multiple regression analysis insect richness, all but 'coniferousness' contributed significant F values. These variables accounted 82% variation richness between was repeated, halted after entry last value, log evergreenness emerged as best set predictor 74% variation. -from Authors
