摘要: BACKGROUND: There are few reports which describe the management of unselected groups patients with lung cancer. This study was undertaken to audit prospectively presentation, diagnosis, management, and outcome presenting cancer in South East Scotland. METHODS: Data were recorded on all newly diagnosed who presented a multidisciplinary group clinicians over 12 month period. Subsequent follow up data treatment survival collected. RESULTS: Six hundred twenty two registered, 80% whom referred from primary care. considerable variation length history, but diagnosis rapidly made after referral (87% within weeks). In 82% pathological examination positive; 70% treated palliative intent. Only 36% underwent surgery had computed tomographic scanning 55% sampling mediastinal nodes.
