摘要: Asbestos-related environmental issues include: i) the presence of natural outcrops asbestos-bearing rocks, ii) cycle asbestos within matrix- es, and iii) quantitative assessment fibres large volumes rock. The characterisation origin as an exogenous agent, or during anthropogenic activity subsequent dispersal in neighbouring areas, allows definition a “fibre-cycle”, which is overall parallel to hydric cycle. Pilot studies using microstructural mineralogical investigations assess distribution approximate minerals their potential contribution airborne were undertaken at six quarry sites very-low-grade metamorphic ophiolites Northern Apen- nines eastern Liguria, Italy. These also incorporated abundance heaps sedimentary debris same quarries; this focused on that formed erosion addition those mineral extraction. This study tested protocol aimed improve Italian DM 16/5/1994 Release Index by addressing issue multi-scale analyses are tai- lored for from outcrop scales microscale integrating multiple techniques (optical microscopy, scanning electron XR diffractome- try, µ-Raman, geomechanical analysis, modal petrographic analyses).
