摘要: Recently it was reported that methanogens of the genus Methanobrevibacter exhibit catalase activity. This surprising, since species belong to order Methanobacteriales, which are known not contain cytochromes and lack ability synthesize heme. We report here arboriphilus strains AZ DH1 contained activity only when growth medium supplemented with hemin. The heme purified characterized, encoding gene cloned. amino acid sequence from is most similar Methanosarcina barkeri.
