Modelling the time dependent photoadaptation of phytoplankton to fluctuating light

摘要: Phytoplankton in the pycnocline and upper mixing layer of ocean are subjected to vertical displacements over a range time scales characteristic fluid motions resulting from internal waves turbulent processes. Because underwater light decreases approximately exponentially with depth, phytoplankton thus experience variations irradiance same scales. In general, because photoadaptation, instantaneous rate photosynthesis does not depend only on but rather some function cells1 history. We present linear response model for photoadaptation varying irradiance. Results laboratory experiments under controlled lighting used determine evaluate functional relationships coefficients model. The is simulate generation photosynthesisirradiance curves incubation experiments, it tested data culture grown greenhouse natural sunlight. For an idealized case, frequency adaptation wave calculated. Waves periods equal or shorter than adaptive allow little adaptation.
