Molecular and structural investigation of yukonite (synthetic & natural) and its relation to arseniosiderite

摘要: This paper describes the first synthesis method of yukonite, its thorough molecular and structural analysis along with natural specimens originating from Tagish Lake (Canada) Grotta della Monaca (Italy) for comparison, relation to arseniosiderite. The synthetic yukonites were found have a range composition according general formula Ca{sub 2}Fe{sub 3-5}(AsO{sub 4}){sub 3}(OH){sub 4-10} {center_dot} xH{sub 2}O where x = 2-11. yukonite was be equivalent at atomic, level yukonite. At level, arseniosiderite, via vibrational spectroscopy, H-bonding system as in scorodite exhibit an extra arsenate mode indicative groups. Heating experiments ATR-IR indicated presence water hydroxyl units In contrast, wide diffuse environment observed only both groups further verified spectroscopy. As K, Fe 2p Ca XANES spectra arseniosiderite identical, confirming that local nature As, atoms these structures is same. Diffractionmore » (X-ray electron) showed consist nano-crystalline domains while case micro-size single crystal exist.« less
