摘要: NO COUNTRY that publishes its vital statistics has a higher recorded death rate for the cardiovascular diseases among middle-aged males than does United States, with exception of South African whites.1-3 As one approach in search possible factors associated this phenomenon, present study deals geographic and ethnic differences within focuses attention upon questions: Where are areas highest rates? The lowest What some variables with-the differeces Rates have already been presented by state4'5 coronary heart disease 163 metropolitan nonmetropolitan portions 116 economic subregions,6 total 279 areas. Our emphasis is mortality rates all these areas, 1949-1951 whites ages 45-74 ageand sex-adjusted ten-year groups, direct method, to States population 1950. These adjustments appropriate epidemiological studies hold constant, so we may other factors. However, health department people others concerned primarily programs serving patients, actual number deaths ordinary crude often much more useful.
