摘要: The through-the-thickness properties of three-dimensionally (3D) woven carbon/epoxy composites have been studied. investigation aimed at the evaluation and development test methodologies for property characterization in thickness direction, establishment fiber architectures were studied: layer-to-layer Angle Interlock, Orthogonal preform with surface pile was also designed manufactured fabrication tensile coupons integrated grips. All preforms infiltrated by resin transfer molding technique. microstructures characterized along warp fill (weft) directions to determine degree yarn undulations, cross-sectional shapes, microstructural dimensions. These parameters correlated architecture. Specimens tested direct measurement tensile, compressive shear composites. Design optimization conducted through analysis stress fields within specimen coupled experimental verification. experimentally-derived elastic direction compared well analytical predictions obtained from a volume averaging model.
