摘要: Two primary chitinases have been identified in humans--acid mammalian chitinase (AMCase) and chitotriosidase (CHIT1). Mammalian observed to affect the host's immune response. The aim of this study was test for association between genetic variation phenotypes related chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Polymorphisms genes were selected based on previous associations with respiratory diseases. that associated lung function level or rate decline Lung Health Study (LHS) cohort analyzed COPD affection status four other case-control populations. Chitinase activity protein levels also genotypes. In caucasian LHS population, baseline forced expiratory volume one second (FEV(1)) significantly different AA GG genotypic groups AMCase rs3818822 polymorphism. Subjects genotype had higher compared homozygotes. For CHIT1 rs2494303, a significant FEV(1) African American rs2494303 G339T genotypes FEV(1). Although effect gene alleles found LHS, we unable replicate groups.
