摘要: The lactose operon of Escherichia coli has been a valuable tool for studying protein-nucleic acid interactions and correlations. Work in this laboratory is concerned not only with gene protein correlations, but also structure-function relationships evolution proteins. emphasis on lac proteins, particular β-galactosidase. In order to understand define system, it was important determine the nucleic sequences complete operon. four proteins coded by lacI, lacZ, lacY lacA are repressor (39,000 dalton subunit), β-galactosidase (116K), permease (46K) thiogalactosidase transacetylase (25K), respectively (Fig. 1).
