Climatology of aerosol optical properties in Northern Norway and Svalbard

摘要: Abstract. We present comparisons between estimates of the aerosol optical thickness and Angstrom exponent in Northern Norway Svalbard based on data from AERONET stations at Andenes (69° N, 16° E, 379 m altitude) Hornsund (77° 15° 10 for period 2008–2010. The three-year annual mean values 500 nm τ(500) were 0.11 0.10, respectively. At Hornsund, there was less variation monthly value than Andenes. α 1.18 1.37, found to be larger 1.0 68% 93% observations, respectively, indicating that fine-mode particles dominating both sites. Both sites had a similar seasonal size distribution although one site is an Arctic area while other sub-arctic area.
