Synthesis and conductivity properties of Gd0.8Ca0.2BaCo2O5+δ double perovskite by sol–gel combustion

摘要: Double perovskite oxides Gd0.8Ca0.2BaCo2O5+δ have been successfully prepared by EDTA-citrate complexation process. The samples were characterized means of thermogravimetry–differential analysis, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy techniques. These analyses suggested that pure phase could be formed when the pH value was maintained above three and calcination temperature higher than 850 °C. conductivity properties analyzed four probes method, scanning electron microscopy photoelectron indicated an improvement in with a high nearly 1200 S/cm, which due to increase number small polaron hopping conduction units, Co3+–O–Co4+. Interestingly, exhibited semiconducting behavior through wide range below 100 °C metallic at 100–500 °C, thereby demonstrating meet requirements smart material.
