摘要: Abstract Aluminium based materials undergo natural process of deterioration on exposure to corrosive environment. Among the strategies corrosion control, sol-gel coatings have become popular as they successfully replaced toxic hexavalent chromate used hitherto. The adherent ability combined with their prevent access electrolyte thereby has made a promising and valuable method control. In present work, 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS) was precursor for silane coatings. order improve active protection metal, 1,3-diphenylthiourea (DPTU) introduced into system. nature studied using FT-IR, SEM EDX. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) showed thermal stability coating. inhibitor doped coating increased hydrophobic For comparative studies, Thiourea (TU) over APTMS matrix evaluated electrochemical studies. EIS results 0.1 M DPTU coated Al surface better anti-corrosion properties than TU in 3.5 wt% NaCl medium. forms an layer metallic which acts significant physical barrier against attack ions neutral medium may be reason improved resistance.
