摘要: Objective To examine whether an electronic medical record "best practice alert" previously shown to improve antenatal gestational weight gain patient education resulted in downstream effects on service delivery or health outcomes. Methods This study involved secondary analysis of data from intervention provider behavior surrounding education. Data were retrospective chart reviews patients who received care either before (N = 333) after (N = 268) implementation the intervention. Pre-post comparisons and multivariable logistic regression used analyze outcomes obesity-related services while controlling for potential confounders. Results The was associated with increase proportion prenatal gained within Institute Medicine guidelines, 28 35 % (p < .05). Mean total did not change, but variability decreased such that post-intervention women had gains closer their targets. a 94 g decrease mean infant birth (p = .03), overweight obese screened undiagnosed Type 2 diabetes 20 weeks gestation, 13 25 % (p = .01).
