摘要: The purpose of this study was to document and quantitate the degree shrinkage resection margins esophagus following extirpation for carcinoma. Measurements were made at operation before removed (in-situ), when specimen had been stretched maximally (stretched), with lying free (contracted), after fixation (fixed). After resection, there substantial margins, upper underwent a greater than lower tumor changing little in length. In contracted state fixation, reduced 44% 54% their in-situ lengths, respectively; they 32% 39%, respectively. Even maximal stretching, only 73% 89% restored. overall whole 50%. It is concluded that considerable from time accounts discrepancy claimed by surgeons pathologists regarding length margins. This finding has relevance extrapolation surgical pathological specimens.
