摘要: Global contamination of the marine environment by plastic has led to discovery microplastics in a range species, including those for human consumption. In this study, presence and other anthropogenic debris seawater mussels (Mytilus edulis) from coastal waters U.K., as well supermarket sources, was investigated. These were detected all samples sites with spatial differences observed. Seawater taken 6 locations (in triplicates) displayed 3.5 ± 2.0 items/L on average (range: 1.5-6.7 items/L). wild sampled 8 around U.K. environment, number total items varied 0.7 2.9 items/g tissue 1.1 6.4 items/individual. For bought mussels, abundance significantly higher pre-cooked (1.4 items/g) compared supplied live (0.9 items/g). Micro-FT-IR spectroscopy conducted 136 randomly selected samples, 94 characterized. The spectra found that 50% these characterized microplastic, an additional 37% made up rayon cotton fibers. microplastic levels present route exposure suggests their quantification be included food safety management measures environmental monitoring health measures.
