摘要: There is a growing need to preserve indigenous knowledge, as communities around the world face ongoing threats survival of their traditional languages and cultures. Although libraries have not traditionally focused on this area, information professionals can play an important role in assisting with management preservation knowledge through providing resources expertise collection, organization, storage retrieval. Indigenous however, differs greatly from Western so it must be managed unique sensitive ways that may challenge conventional tools processes, well prevalent assumptions about information. Indeed, should work develop solutions meet local needs. Three projects Australia, Canada United States are examined illustrate different methods used for managing accommodate oral traditions, holistic belief systems, security access concerns, technological limitations.
