摘要: Abstract Mutants of Escherichia coli limited in their ability to synthesize phosphatidic acid become severely restricted capacities for growth and macromolecular synthesis. This paper reports the effects partial limitation synthesis a mutant E. coli, resulting from an altered sn-glycerol 3-phosphate acyltransferase (EC 2.3.1.15). The alteration Km this enzyme is correlated with intracellular glycerol-P concentration, rates lipid macromolecule synthesis, rate. reduction rate correlates well suggests rapid mechanism coordination these processes. Inhibition causes specific size ATP pool it postulated that activation ATPase by membrane environment may be possible subsequent loss synthetic capacities.
