摘要: WR-2721 is one of the most effective exogenous radioprotectants discovered (1, 2). Mechanisms through which protects cells from radiation-induced lethality include free radical scavenging, hydrogen atom donation, and induction hypoxia. As a survival-enhancer in experimental animals, extremely when administered ~30 min before radiation exposure. However, because survival-enhancing effects are dose dependent, doses that produce greatest radioprotection also toxic (3, 4). We previously demonstrated an alternate approach to use high (potentially toxic) single low multiple agents act by different mechanisms (5, 6). For example, we low-dose could be increased glucan, immunomodulator hemopoietic stimulant, was following irradiation. The enhanced survival observed with + glucan attributed sequential cell protection mediated proliferation glucan. Because potent inducer cytokines (7, 8), hypothesized may used place stimulate hemopoiesis increase WR-2721. In these particular studies, ability granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) described.
