摘要: Abstract The medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) of the Himalayan region have been harvested from ancient times for their multiple uses. traditional harvesting practices these valuable MAPs altered over period time due to several reasons, including advent market forces, resulting in decline many populations. In this context, system is analysed reviewed view management sustainability. Along altitudinal gradient Himalaya, seasonality determines specific trend collection MAPs. alpine areas (>3500 m), begins May till next heavy snowfall late September, mainly underground plant parts are harvested. temperate (1500–3500 m) being occupied by permanent settlers, some continues here throughout year likewise sub-tropical (1000–1500 m). collectors either dedicated or opportunistic. totally focused on particular which high demand fetch them attractive cash. both opportunistic gatherers not organised. Competition among has brought changes cycles periods that subsequently affect regeneration reproductive potential species. Besides, overharvesting wedged development sector. Formulation sustainable suitable regulations required long-term conservation Himalaya.
