摘要: Acute ammonia toxicity has been attributed to the depletion of energy metabolite intermediates. Ingestion an ammonium containing diet produces hyperammonemia and protects rats against acute intoxication. We have tested effect chronic on brain contents intermediates these intoxication (i.p. injection 7 mmol/kg acetate). Chronic was induced in by feeding them a 20% acetate. Control rat were fed same without addition It is shown that did not affect content most metabolites, only remarkable changes are increases (46%), glutamine (81%), acetoacetate (31%) mitochondrial NAD+/NADH ratio (32%) as well marked decreased s-hydroxybutyrate (by 86%). prevents metabolites In control it breakdown glycogen increased glucose, lactate pyruvate, with cytosolic ATP contents. These nearly completely prevented hyperammonemic rats. controls, 12.8-fold while glutamate aspartate ≈40% alanine raised 37% 93%, respectively; 6.9-fold glutamate, significantly affected. Also 18-fold controls 6-fold results indicate markedly alterations
