摘要: Challenges associated with managing urban water, particularly in rapidly growing cities, have given rise to the visions of Integrated Urban Water Management (IUWM) and Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD). Our aim this chapter is understand major barriers achieving these visions. We begin a literature review clarify visions, summarize previously identified barriers, and then explore barriers through discussion Melbourne, Australia, as case study. This draws on wide-ranging consultation water industry experts Melbourne uncover practical infrastructure planning processes that are rarely covered academic papers. find IUWM WSUD, all grand cannot be considered pass or fail, but rather journey continual improvement. Progress made when policy development, strategy and planning, implementation WSUD approaches, both new existing suburbs, are effectively coordinated. The primary barriers to found be (1) ambiguity around environmental, livability, security targets;(2) lack guidance appropriate justifiable processes, particular financial evaluations; (3) limitations on what developers can required do developments without more ambitious legislation; (4) limited resources available for projects suburbs difficulty directing resources most beneficial uses.
