Retinoblastoma Treated in Infants in the First Six Months of Life

摘要: • One hundred fifty-eight children with retinoblastoma received diagnoses and were treated during the first six months of life then observed for a mean 7.4 years. The age at diagnosis was 3.6 months. Four patients birth, one metastatic disease. Ninety-four (60% had leukokoria, reflecting fact that 108 (68%) initially seen group V tumors (Reese-Ellsworth staging) despite their young age. seven bilateral 51 (32%) unilateral disease; in ten latter group, later developed fellow eye. eyes 90 involvement asymmetric visit (that is, involved different stages disease). Of 52 receiving irradiation, 26 (50%) required further treatment, 23 (70%) these resistant tumor (30%) new tumors. Despite early 13 (25%) ultimately enucleation. Metastatic they died. Second, nonocular patients. Early does not ensure disease is caught an stage.
