摘要: Abstract Proteins of the BCL-2 family are crucial components intracellular apoptotic machinery which primarily act by regulating cytoplasmic release a variety death-promoting proteins normally confined to mitochondrial intermembrane space. Here, we review possible molecular mechanisms members may increase outer membrane permeability in order modulate this protein release. The focus is on information gathered from studies using model systems. Two major permeabilization discussed: (1) formation purely proteinaceous channels, and (2) generation lipid-containing pores.
