摘要: Bone remodelling is an essential process for shaping and maintaining bone mass in the mature skeleton. During our lifetime constantly being removed by osteoclasts new formed osteoblasts. The activities of osteoblasts must be regulated under a strict balance to ensure that homeostasis maintained. Osteocytes, which form extensive, multi-functional syncytium throughout bone, are increasingly considered cells maintain this balance. Current research elucidating key signalling pathways osteocyte exerts control over other cell types its own activities, potential ways these may exploited therapeutically.
