摘要: To gain better understanding of the natural history Schistosoma haematobium associated disease, age- and intensity-related urinary tract morbidity were assessed in a cross-sectional study Kilole (population 719) Coast Province, Kenya. Overall prevalence infection was 65% (39% light, 16% moderate, 9% heavy). Infection mean intensity highest 5-14-year-old bracket for both sexes. Although significant intensity-associated increases hematuria noted children adults all categories, more common those less than 15 years age. Children had increase dysuria at higher levels infection, whereas did not. Radiographic 1:9 random sample, stratified age, revealed greater granulomas years. Subjects age frequency hydronephrosis. Hydronephrosis, hydroureter, bladder calcification not with intensity. Among individuals calcification, potential marker cumulative inflammation, 87% hydronephrosis or compared to 40% among without calcification. These findings suggest that certain structural forms such as hydronephrosis, progress during course untreated schistosomiasis haematobia despite age-related reductions egg burden, other morbidity, hematuria, remain sensitive level excretion time diagnosis.
