摘要: Anthropogenic noise is a common but evolutionarily recent influence on communicating animals and evidence accumulating of its adverse impacts human health, therefore it has potential relevance to conservation. However, demonstrating that this realised not straightforward. A particular issue the difficulty assessing likely from limited main factors influencing impacts—from hearing abilities conservation concern through characteristics emitted sound fields in natural environments. Further issues include underestimation behavioural effects, lack knowledge how trade off costs benefits. In chapter, we aim highlight themes emerging growing interest effects anthropogenic We predominantly consider marine environment (with examples drawn mainly mammals) terrestrial bird examples). An important consideration emerges increasing levels difficulties specific need develop interim guidance, while more detailed information gathered assessed.
