摘要: ABSTRACT In the summer of 2004, a search for past outbursts three known recurrent novae (RNe; V1017 Sgr, V3890 and CI Aql) was conducted using digitized plates at Maria Mitchell Observatory on Nantucket, Massachusetts. The cover years 1913–1995. eruptions is only way to obtain real inter‐eruption timescales RNe, which important understanding whether RNe will ultimately collapse as Type Ia supernovae. No previously undiscovered were found. Nevertheless, rich coverage significantly reduces likelihood these having had an outburst in our coverage. This most critical case Aql (a key system upcoming tests white dwarf gaining or losing mass), we show that no occurred from 1977 1995, despite prediction nova event around 1980. Furthermore, Sgr observed have short‐term variability during quiescence, with B magnitude rand...
