摘要: Abstract We developed a ‘senior friendly’ suite of online ‘games for learning’ with interactive calibration increasing difficulty, and evaluated the feasibility randomized clinical trial to test hypothesis that seniors aged 60–80 can improve key aspects cognitive ability aid such games. Sixty community-dwelling senior volunteers were either an game designed train multiple abilities, or control arm activities simulated look feel games but low level interactivity no difficulty. Study assessment included measures recruitment, retention play-time. Cognitive change was measured computerized battery administered just before within two weeks after completion six-week intervention. Impediments included: limited access in-home high-speed internet, large variations in amount time devoted play, reluctance pursue more challenging levels. Overall analysis negative assessed performance (transference effects) even though subjects improved on themselves. Post hoc analyses suggest some types may have value than others, these effects would need be replicated study purpose. conclude six-week, moderate-intensity computer game-based intervention implemented high-functioning seniors, effect size is relatively small. Our findings are consistent Owen et al. (2010) , there open questions about whether structured, longer duration intensive interventions might yield substantial improvement seniors.
