摘要: BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: To use MR spectroscopy to aid in the diagnosis of demyelinating disease and help differentiate tumefactive lesions from neoplastic processes. MATERIALS METHODS: imaging brain was obtained 4 patients who presented clinically with focal neurologic deficits. initially revealed parenchymal mass lesions. Single-voxel then performed utilizing a point-resolved sequence protocol short echo time (30 msec). RESULTS: ring-enhancing one patient, multiple second large area edema effect without associated enhancement third solid peripherally enhancing fourth patient. spectroscopic results all demonstrated marked elevation glutamate glutamine peaks (2.1–2.5 ppm). Other nonspecific (and sense confounding) findings included choline peak (3.2 ppm), lactate (1.3 lipid (0.5–1.5 decrease N-acetylaspartate (2.0 All were eventually given sclerosis based on CSF analysis, biopsy, and/or clinical follow-up. CONCLUSION: metabolite information may be useful by demonstrating glutamate/glutamine because these is typically not seen aggressive intra-axial This particularly beneficial rarer cases lesions, which are very difficult neoplasms alone.
