摘要: Abstract Here we conduct the first direct metric examination of two early regional manifestations microlithic industries – Howiesons Poort southern Africa (c. 65–60 ka) and Microlithic industry South Asia 38–12 ka). Inter-regional comparative analysis is rare, but can contribute much to our understanding technological systems in past. Metric qualitative variables were recorded on cores, debitage, tools from Rose Cottage Cave Umhlatuzana, Africa, Batadomba-lena, Sri Lanka, with aim conducting a first-stage assessment degree homogeneity diversity within these rich assemblages. The lithic methodology employed here uses full range by-products, as opposed an approach based tool typology alone. Preliminary analyses reveal areas significant variation inter-regional strategies. These include differences blade production blank selection, microlith morphology, disparate quartz reduction processes designed produce similar types, varying degrees utilisation bipolar technology, existence distinct trajectories sites. assemblages through use detailed attribute demonstrates useful alternative for way examine behavioural variability, step towards thorough place microliths models human dispersals.
