Profile and pattern of poisoning cases reported in a tertiary care teaching hospital in Kerala

摘要: Introduction: Poisoning is a major socio economic problem worldwide. Morbidity and mortality resulting from poisoning varies region to within our country. Till date definite data relating profile pattern of cases in this part country not available. Materials Method: The admitted Jubilee Mission Medical College & Research Institute, Thrissur over period one year was studied retrospectively based on medical records. Results: Among the 182 majority were females. most commonly affected age group 21-30 years. Married outnumbered unmarried. incidence higher during month May. Incidences suicidal highest present study followed by accidental poisoning. Few undetermined origin. Mode administration poison all oral. observed increasing trend Pharmaceutical products insecticides. Conclusion: Analyzing trends particular zone periodically will help health policy-makers plan management policies prevention strategies. Keywords: Poisoning, Pesticides, Drugs, Suicide
