The thalamus and schizophrenia: current status of research.

摘要: The thalamus provides a nodal link for multiple functional circuits that are impaired in schizophrenia (SZ). Despite inconsistencies the literature, meta analysis suggests volume of relative to brain is decreased SZ. Morphometric neuroimaging studies employing deformation, voxel-based and region interest methodologies suggest deficit preferentially affects thalamic regions containing anterior mediodorsal nuclei, pulvinar. Postmortem design-based stereological have produced mixed results regarding neuronal deficits these nuclei.
