摘要: Several anticlines in northern Iraq and Syria have been studied through the construction of balanced restored cross sections. Based upon structural analysis, each is a fault-propagation fold that developed due to Zagros-related, recent inversion much older normal faults. Studies on Iranian part Zagros Fold Belt suggested regional variation character belt related weak detachment surfaces stratigraphic section, primarily decollement near top Hormuz Salt where salt present. No evidence for has found within Kirkuk Embayment, although contribute area’s character, prominent folds seem originate mainly from basement involved Two distinct trends exist: E-W system NW inverted grabens. In Syria, several faults associated with EW-trending cut seismic data relationships indicating their displacement originated Neoproterozoic. Iraq, thicker sedimentary section did not allow deep parts fault systems be imaged available seismic. While could linked Orogen by surface potential-field suggest this trend also Neoproterozoic origin.
